Party Girl
Fashion Design Collection
The Party Girl ready to wear collection was an application excersise to explore my version of a "timeless hipster". Living in a trendy party area in Berlin, I reflected upon the party tourist as the new hipster. A common thread the very diverse description of a hipster is making the uncool, cool.
Using the "Fashion Dads" Instagram page as an inspiration, I took the classic "dad" aesthetic and reworked it into a collection that blends sport wear, leather craftsmanship, and a touch of 1960's mod. Patterns based on the "Cats in Space" internet phenomenon blended with the 80's Versace printing aesthetic creating a clash of playful images. I also revamped the classic Hawaiian shirt by including the Famous japanese wood block print of the Hokusai wave.
The song Party Girl by China Woman inspired the title and feeling of the collection.
Research and sketch book included above.
